Finding my Mojo

As you know I've been down in the dumps, today was weigh in day, but you can see there's no post. I'm not too far off from my last weigh in I don't think. But I've just lost that motivation I had...

I'm going to blame it on the rotten terrier that was allowed to charge us 5 times and scare the crap out of me and the kids. I shouldn't use it as an excuse but I want to think that's what did it for me. I was jumping at every little sound any time I neared that area of the neighborhood. I just can't take it, disrespectful owners who don't obey leash laws. :X  So I think in my mind, rather than be distraught over some retarded animal (and no I don't hate animals, just the ones allowed to roam the streets like wild beasts) I just gave up.

After determining what has been bothering me, the hubs and I came up with a handy solution. He's in dire need of exercise as well, so we decided that following lunch, rather than putting the kids down for naps, we'll go out for walks and runs as a family. It's great for multiple reasons:

  1. I get to spend time with my husband which results in adult conversation and not signing the alphabet 2,000 times in one day.
  2. The kids get some unwinding time while taking in nature
  3. I'm not nervous about rogue dogs when I'm with him. I have my own protector with me and I don't feel jumpy at all.
  4. When the hills get too tough, he can take the stroller and give me a little break.
  5. It just feels like the right thing to do.
I think, weather permitting, we'll be sticking to this new game plan for a while. We also tossed in another new angle and pre-planned a new route to take. It allows us to completely avoid the area that the dog lives in as well as we made it for FOUR miles versus my old three miles. It could be that the old route was making me feel stale? This new route is a butt kicker. SO MANY FREAKING HILLS. UP HILL, DOWN HILL, SIDEWAYS ON THE HILL!?!?!?!?! But that's good. So, believe it or not, we actually had to write the directions down for this new route, so we'd remember where to go. LOL. Our pace was a little slower than usual, but that's to be expected when you're trying something new.

There is one HUGE downside to walking in the hottest part of the day...SUNBURN. Yes, I'm used to walking/running when the sun is setting, so I don't really apply sunblock. Ummmm, yeah, can you say I have the weirdest looking burn on the planet? So lesson learned...when going out mid-day make sure to apply the sunblock. Thank you all for hanging in here with me. It really does mean a lot. :)

Nice white spot from the HRM.
White wrist from pushing the stroller. >.<

OH OUCHIE!!! GIRL!!! You know better than to go outside without sunblock!!! Burnfree is some stuff that you can buy and it's amazing, lasts longer than simple aloe, and has some menthol in it to help take the heat/sting out. I like your gameplan though. stick to it!!
