Insanity

Oh my holy insanity! So we recently got our hands on the infamous "Insanity" DVDs.

Insanity

*Blink Blink*

I decided that there was no better day than today to start this awesome program. Ummmm, what the hell was I thinking? Oh that's right. I need to start toning up my body and doing primarily outdoor cardio isn't going to make that happen. Now, a little back story... I SUCK at DVD workouts. Suck. Why? Probably because they are generally lead by some super annoying coach who can take and stick their dumbbell where the sun doesn't shine for all I care. I have NEVER EVER stuck with a DVD program.

So why the heck would I try out this program? Well, because I have several friends who have worked the program and are proof it really does work. So, I guess I decided I needed to up my game. I need to challenge my body as I'm not getting the same sore muscles I had when I first started walking, running and biking. I feed off of that kind of pain...yes, my husband calls me a freak. ;)

So today I started with my first fit test. Let's just say thank goodness the blinds were drawn. I had to modify the Push-Up Jacks because quite frankly I have no upper body strength. I'm lucky I can hold a plank. Another thing I discovered... it doesn't matter how much weight you lose, you have to find a way to tighten that loose skin. Seriously I'm sure it looked like sacks of potatoes flopping around by all the noises coming off of my skin smacking itself. *shudder*

Moving on, sorry about the visual, So today was day 1 and I will have completed the 60 day program on December 1st as long as I stick with it. This means I will now be forcing myself to work out 6 days instead of 5 days a week. After completing the fit test, I must say I'm really diggin this work out. It's such a simple concept, but execution is a little tough for me yet. But I am determined to make it to the end!

8 Weeks Till Thanksgiving Challenge

Photobucket

At my meeting Tuesday we were introduced to a fun new challenge. Eight weeks to get to Thanksgiving, eight weeks to see what we can do. We have been given a new challenge for each week and our leader is sticking it to us. LOL.

So, she showed us this FABULOUS visual of butter sticks, but before I get to that... Our leader made us pee our pants as she described how she actually attempted to "string sticks of SOFTENED butter" and was going to attempt to wear it around her waist to show us what 4 extra pounds would look like. Bwahahaha.

So the visual chart showed a ton of butter sticks stacked. And the gist is that it equaled four pounds of weight. And if you only lose a half pound a week, in the next eight weeks that would be four pounds gone from your body. That's pretty darn cool.

Photobucket

So, I haven't read through the entire challenge article...yet. But rather am going to take it one step at a time. And I feel moved to blog about it, so you get to read about it. LOL.

Photobucket

So I have now committed to this eight week challenge. Our leader has asked us to track for 7 days (I generally do anyway) and print off our trackers for the meeting Tuesday... Sweet, easy enough; no problem.

Oh crap... Uhhh, well you see I have a confession. I committed to this challenge and then being so pissed about my lack of loss yesterday I sort of bombed my meal plan...HORRIBLY. As I have NEVER done before since starting this program. It wasn't just "sorta" bad, it was awful. But I have to own up to my own stupid mistake.

For those who don't know, as part of WW you are allotted a certain amount of points per day, as well as an extra 49 points that you can use as you see fit for the entire WEEK. I generally do not touch those extra 49 points. As of this post I am at a daily 35 points and some times I struggle to get all of those points eaten daily. But I digress...

Yesterday:

Photobucket

Sigh, I have committed to NOT letting this happen again. Yes, I am human and allowed to splurge, but that was a little bit beyond splurging. :( As if lunch weren't enough I said screw it to dinner as well. I had NO vegetables, NO fruit yesterday and I'm pretty certain I only drank one third of my water allotment. I have however turned over another leaf, and I am committed.

I certainly could have swept this under the rug. But who am I kidding? We are all human and we are allowed to make mistakes. I'm certain I'm not the only one out there, but I want you to know that just because you may slip up one day, doesn't mean it has to undo everything you've worked for. And yes, I will be printing this off for my leader... *shudder in fear*

I worked my ass off for those 50+ pounds I've dropped and just because I said F-it yesterday doesn't mean I'm going to stop. I will progress, I will move forward and this challenge will help me do that. {For the record, this mornings 50 pound post was scheduled ahead of time, so it was totally coincidental that I screwed up and had to post about my boo boo the same day.}

Photobucket

I'm sure you're wondering what's up with paper turkey? So are we. LOL. Our leader handed one out to every one and told us to be sure to bring it back next week. She followed that up with "I'll get you some plastics so you don't get your turkey wet." ????? A small group of us had to question that. What are the turkey's for and what would we be doing with them that they could potentially get wet? LOL. She quietly whispered that there are EIGHT FEATHERS on that turkey...hint hint and perhaps that turkey might end up with some feather stickers on it. Wink Wink.

Ooooohhhhhhh. Okay.

So next Sunday I'll post that weeks challenge from the book and take it from there. I have no real layout for this challenge since I haven't read through it, but I'm kind of excited about it!

So what can you achieve in 8 weeks? I'm pretty certain I will pound out those pesky 4 pounds of weight!

What Does 50 Pounds Feel Like?

Photobucket
{Warning: NSFW}

So you're probably wondering why this post wouldn't be safe for work. I'll forewarn you...I will be showing you some pics of me in my bra & undies.  O___o

But first, let's ponder a few things, shall we? You constantly see me moan & groan about not loosing a pound. I'll reference I "only" lost x.x lbs. But in reality, what is ONE POUND???

Photobucket

THAT is one pound of body fat... *BLINK* *BLINK* Wow. Just let that sink in. That is what one of those pesky pounds look like. That's what one of those pounds look like on my body?

So, if that's what ONE pound of body fat looks like, what does FIVE pounds look like?

Photobucket

Um, again, WOW. That's rather disturbing. Seriously. So you wanna see what one versus five looks like?

Photobucket

Ewwww. Now that we've let that sink in... I have lost FIFTY of those pesky, nasty looking pounds of fat.

Photobucket

Hmmm... 50 Pounds? What exactly looks like fifty pounds? Anyone? Yes, you there in the back...

Photobucket
Ah yes, the 50 pound dumbbell.
You sir?
Photobucket
A sack of potatoes? Clever.
And you Ma'am?
Photobucket
Holy Cow! A 50 pound bale of hay? I used to sling those as a teenager on our farm.
Those are some really great suggestions you guys! Thanks for participating. Now, funny thing is? I've lost MORE WEIGHT than the jogging stroller I use to push the kids around our neighborhood!!!

Photobucket

So what is next for me? Well I'm still a far cry from my goal. But I'm slowly moving there. So the next time you hear me complain about "only losing a pound" please feel free to refer me to my own post. ;)

As for those nekid pictures I promised you above... I am ever so grateful I stopped to take pictures of myself so that I can see my progress. Unfortunately I do not have pictures of myself at 277.6 as the first set I was brave enough to take was at 268.6. So the pictures don't quite reflect the entire 50 pounds, but it's pretty darn close. ;)

And I've been told I'm a brave soul for posting these on the internet. I don't see myself as being brave, I see myself as a woman who was determined to change her life one step at a time and hopefully in the process I will help someone else in their journey. Without photographs of yourself, you will never know just how far you've come. So if you haven't taken true "before photographs" of yourself, I encourage you to do so. You don't have to share them on the internet as I'm doing, but at least do it for yourself. You will thank me later. ;o)

So without further mumbo jumbo {don't say I didn't warn you} here I am in all my glory...

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

Next stop...

Photobucket

So what does 50 pounds feel like? After comparing these pictures...it feels amazing. To know what my body is capable of and to know that I CAN DO THIS!!!! There is no feeling in the world like accomplishment!

Weigh In Day / FFFC Wk 2

Photobucket

Weigh in Day!!!!

9.18 = 226.0
9.25 = 225.8

-0.2 pounds

Total Loss to Date: 51.8 pounds

I'm just a smidge pissed about today's weigh in. Yes it's that TOM, but come on! I freaking worked out for 5 days this week, what the hell? I was so pissed I didn't want to go to weigh in, I didn't even want to write this post. Super pissed.

Today's first-thing-wake-up-naked weight:

Photobucket

Oh wait, that's the same as it was last week... WTF? Earlier this week I saw 224.4, that would have been acceptable for this morning, but oh no... of course my body has to go & flip me the bird. >:|

And yes, I'm still planning on writing up my 50 pound post, things have just "happened" and I haven't had a chance to actually sit & write it...

And I realized I could have posted the 224.4 picture I took a couple of days ago, but that's not fair to anyone & I'd only be lying to myself. Just hoping some of this frustration works for me rather than against me this week...

Turkey Burgers with Zucchini

Web_BSP_5244

I found this gem of a recipe over at Skinnytaste.com. If you haven't visited Gina's website, it is a MUST for the serious Weight Watcher. Tons of fabulous recipes and nutrition & Points Plus calculations are included!

Turkey Burgers with Zucchini
Gina's Weight Watcher Recipes
Servings: 5 • Size: 1 burger no bun  Old Points: 3 pts (bun extra)  Points+: 4 pts
Calories: 156 • Fat: 6.8 g  Protein: 18.6 g  Carb: 5.5 g  Fiber: 1.3 g

Ingredients:
  • 1.25 lbs 93% lean ground turkey
  • 1 small zucchini, grated
  • 1/4 cup seasoned whole wheat breadcrumbs
  • 1 clove garlic, grated
  • 1 tbsp red onion, grated
  • salt and fresh pepper
  • oil spray

Directions:

In a large bowl, combine ground turkey, zucchini, breadcrumbs, garlic, onion, salt and pepper. Make 5 equal patties.

Heat a large skillet on high heat. When hot, lightly spray oil. Add burgers to the pan and reduce the heat to low. Cook on one side until browned, then flip. Flip over a few times to prevent burning and to make sure the burgers are cooked all the way through.

If grilling, clean grill well before cooking and spray with oil spray to prevent sticking.

So, I'm sure you're wondering how they were? They were pretty darn awesome! Obviously I used white onion instead of red, because that's what I had on hand. I also threw on some reduced fat pepper jack because what's a burger without cheese? Throw it on a whole wheat bun and we're in business. And I opted for cucumber "chips" as my side. I made those easy enough with my crinkle fry cutter for fun.

Now, the burgers themselves, I had a HARD time keeping them together. I believe this issue was the moisture from the zucchini. So, next time I try them (yes there will be a next time) I will be wringing the excess moisture out of the zucchini before adding it into the meat.

They were yummy enough that the kidlets even devoured them!

This is my official entry for this week's mini challenge!

    Week Two's Mini Challenge is:

Week two - Try a new healthy food or recipe. I hope everyone gives it a shot, it'll be fun to try something different.
