"Not Enough Time" Work Out

Not that long ago I found that Insanity just isn't working for my body right now. It's fabulous, I've definitely seen more tone in my muscles and an increase in endurance. However, I'm not seeing that fat burning and weight loss I was seeing with my running and biking. So I decided to take a step back from the videos and start over.

I know I've talked about this routine once before, and quite frankly I've only done it once before. But it's where I'm about to start. It's perfect for my schedule. Why? Because I can knock this routine out in under 15 minutes. It's designed to work as many muscle groups as possible in as short of an amount of time as possible. So I'll be hitting the cardio 5-6 days a week and throwing the weights in every other day. This workout totally gives me no excuse for not getting it done!

We'll see where this gets me at next Tuesday's weigh in. :)

Photobucket

All of these I am performing with a 5 foot barbell, no additional weight added to it's already 14 pounds. Perfect for a beginner.

And if you're unsure how to do any of these moves, check out the links below.

After I master this routine I will try to expand to some fun workouts I've pinned!

Giving Thanks 5K

Am I crazy? Heck no. LOL. My fun-loving "Lean Ladies" group has decided to try and get together for a fun run on Thanksgiving morning as many of us have friends in common in real life, but not all of us have met in person.

I've never done a Turkey Trot before, but this one is relatively flat so I figured, why not? Then we find out that it's open to strollers & dogs. So, rather than trying to find a sitter for that morning (the hub's is working Thanksgiving) I decided to enter the Stroller Division. So I will not only be doing my first timed 5K race, but I will also be shoving the kids in front of me. :)

I also like that the race proceeds benefit the transitional housing authority for our local homeless families. And being that I'm a giving person, I LOVE the support this race is providing. I'm excited!!!! Wish Me Luck!

Are you partaking in a Thanksgiving race?

Weigh In Day / FFFC

Weigh in Day!!!!

10.16 = 224.0
10.16 = 223.2

-0.8 pounds

Total Loss to Date: 54.4 pounds

So, I lost what I gained last week. :/ Wearing clothes while weighing in is so overrated.

Today's first-thing-wake-up-naked weight:

This week I've decided to go back to square one. I'm getting mentally frustrated and stressed to the max. Being a scale junkie definitely has drawbacks. All of my issues started when I started doing Insanity. I'm not saying Insanity isn't a great workout because it is. I just have to modify so many moves for my knee that I just don't think it's going to work for me for the time being. I seriously cannot jump to save my life unless I want to wind up under the knife to correct my knee.

That being said I took the first step forward today:

Photobucket

Immediately after being upset at weigh in, I came home, laced up my Brooks and went out for a walk/jog pushing the kids for 3.35 miles in 57 minutes. Then we broke for lunch and I followed that up by busting out my trusty straight bar and went through my "Not Enough Time" workout. I really need to find a way to incorporate weight training into my routine to boost my metabolism.

This is where I'm going to start. I'll go over everything in another post later. ;) Hope you all had a fabulous week!

10 Things

FFFC

Week six - Be kind to yourself: make a list of ten things you love about yourself. Sometimes this can be the hardest thing to do!

Not sure how this list is going to wind up since I'm working on ridding myself of a killer headache at the moment and I'm just sitting here in a funk. Here goes nothing...

  1. Ability to change - I have not always been so willing to adapt to change. In fact I would have rather spent time fighting change than going with the flow. Since starting with WW I have learned to adapt more easily and try things I would have never tried in the past.
  2. OCD - In a good way. When I start something, I generally HAVE to finish it before I can move on. This comes in handy most times, but sometimes it can hinder things. But for the purpose of exercising, it seems to come in handy. When I think I should give up, OCD kicks in and I finish to the end. Kind of handy huh?
  3. Creative Crafty Brain - I'm a very creative person. I love crafting. Mostly I love making hair bows and tutus. It's my little side business and my daughter always tries to hoard my creations. It's actually partly to blame for my lack of posts lately as I'm gearing up for a couple of holiday shows in the very near future. I love being able to create unique pieces for my clients and having the freedom to do something I love.
  4. Musical - I have always loved music and I love that it is rubbing off on my children. My daughter especially. I can only hope that she continues to love music as much I have over the years. Why I love that I'm musical? It's a great way to blow off steam, or relax. I'm primarily a vocal artist and dabbled in theater in high school. But I learned to read music through band. Yup, "this one time at band camp".... er, if you're curious I began with the french horn, but quickly switched to the clarinet and in high school I added the bass clarinet during concert band season.
  5. Visual - I'm a very visual person. I LOVE photography and capturing memories. I'm still growing in my craft but it definitely is a great way to view life from different aspects. I love that through photography my children will be able to see the little things that I captured while they were growing up.
  6. Calves - I always saw myself as having cankles. But since starting this journey I can see that what I thought was cankles, really isn't. Now I'm seeing some amazing definition and I LOVE it. I really like the way they are shaping up these days.
  7. Tattoos - I love my tattoos, both of them. :D My favorite animal is a frog. In my early twenties one of my bff's from high school went with me and I got my first tat which appears to be a frog jumping out of my pants, on my lower back. LOL. It's silly and for no other reason other than I love frogs. The other one is a motivator and means a lot to me, you can see it here.
  8. Giving - I do a lot for other people before I think of myself. It just makes me feel good that I can help others in need.
  9. Monkey Toes - Yes, I have monkey toes and I love it. I love being able to pick things up off of the floor without having to bed over. I also love being able to yank my hubby's leg hair with them when we wrestle. LOL.
  10. My Body - I may not always like my body, but I love it. Confused? No, I do not like the extra skin hanging around my mid section or the excess fat still on me. But I love my body, I was able to successfully conceive, carry within my body and deliver two children safely. Not every woman has that luxury. It has been with me through the good and the bad and will always be mine. I have to love it for what it is and the capabilities it possesses. I love it, baby wounds and all.

There you have it. Probably one of the most difficult lists I've ever had to write.

Weigh In Day / FFFC

Weigh in Day!!!!

10.09 = 223.2
10.16 = 224.0

+0.8 pounds

Total Loss to Date: 53.6 pounds

Ummmm, WTF WW? In my defense I stepped onto a different scale this week. I've been sticking with the same one for consistencies sake, but I was running behind and just had to go with it.

Today's first-thing-wake-up-naked weight:

I don't know what's going on this week. My food intake was on target & I only missed one work out. I just don't understand what's going on this week. TOM? Retaining water & waste? Ah hell, who knows.

On the upside, my measurements went down, so I guess it can't always be about the scale. Not to mention I can now pull down my jeans while they are still buttoned... I'm in between sizes so I'm not going to buy another pair until I can fit comfortably into the next smaller size. :D

Photobucket

I do have to share this graph with you. Since I jumped on my first WW scale way back in March... This is the FIRST gain that I have recorded with them. I think that's a pretty darn good streak and it was only 0.8 lbs, so it's not like I jumped up 5 pounds. Have to keep a positive outlook right? ;)

What I appreciate

FFFC
Fit & Fabulous Fall Challenge over at Thunder Thighs

Week five - Write a post about at least one thing you appreciate in your life. Feel free to share pics!

Monthly Family Pic

I appreciate my family...every last goofball in it. LOL. But seriously I couldn't have gotten as far as I have without my husband. He's my biggest supporter and leaning post. I financially wouldn't have been able to join WW without him nor would I be able to get my workouts in without him being there to take care of our children. He really means the world to me.

I also appreciate my monkeys. Most days they give me headaches, but they also keep me active. :)

Phew... made it through another week. I petered out on Wednesday and was supposed to do Cardio Recovery (Stretching) and just didn't get it in. But I squeezed everything in else this week. :) It was my first time doing an abs workout yesterday... loads of fun there. Wonder how long I'll feel sore?

And my apologies for the toilet-growing-out-of-my-ear picture. LOL. Guess I should be more aware of my surroundings before snapping my pic. O__o

Looky there! My turkey grew another "feather." It was for recognizing the areas I could change within my daily tracker to improve my eating habits.

Photobucket

So yesterday we discussed what activities we can do with friends that don't involve food. If any of you know anything about me or my family or church family, you understand that I grew up in the mindset that "Anytime we get together is a good time to feast." Church functions always involve food. There's always a carry-in dinner for something. My immediate family? We always get together for dinner when we socialize. And my neighbors? When we get together it's over a fire pit or for smoking some meat, can you say beer & s'mores? Yes... we are social folk that LOVE food.

So we broke into groups and wrote down different things we could do with our friends that didn't have to involve food. Our group had a lot of great suggestions. Walking, shopping, playing card/board games, crafting, going to the pool. There were quite a few things. Sure, some of those things could involve food, but they don't HAVE to.

I'm not sure what my mini goal for this week is going to be. I mean, I generally don't have many opportunities for socializing during the day with the hubs schedule and weekends are off the table since he's working. Being it's getting colder out we can't hang as much outside with the kiddos... Man this seems a lot harder of a challenge when children are involved.

You know, I just might check with my good friend and see if she wants to wander around downtown and do our own little photography walk.
