Payday In A Boot

 photo IMG_6698_zpsda382983.jpg

Yesterday was payday and of course that means GROCERIES!!!! So I got silly and snapped some boot pics at each stop along the way. :P

First up, me and Bubba waited for Sissy to get a hair cut. Then we made a pit stop for lunch followed by a trip to Sam's (stocking up on those proteins). Next up was Price Chopper, then Dick's Sporting Goods. And last was my parent's kitchen. :D

**I forgot to take one in Aldi's :(

Doctor Update + My New Bling Holder

 photo IMG_6561_zps0b48eafb.jpg

Sigh, I went to the doctor today, one week post-injury. Sadly I have been instructed to wear the boot for another 10 days. :(

We are treating it as a stress fracture. I go back the 22nd for re-evaluation, and if it isn't healed by then we will schedule and MRI. I am not happy about this by any stretch of the imagination. Cardio every other day? Pshhh. I can't run in a boot and walking is near impossible. FML.

I'll keep icing it and sitting on my butt because that's what's best for my foot right? Not so much for my self esteem.

On the other hand my new Medal Hanger arrived today!!!!

After hours upon hours of agonizing over which design I wanted I finally ordered the Always Earned, Never Given hanger; 30" x 1 bar.

My husband quickly obliged me in hanging it up, which was super quick. Allied Medal Displays provides all of the necessary hardware and instructions that actually make sense! My husband loved that. LOL.

 photo IMG_6572_zps03ee3abc.jpg

As far as my plan for the future? I'm planning on using each section for an entire years worth of medals, so I'll be good for the next two years. LOL. After that I will be buying a plain single bar and have it mounted underneath the medals for the next three years worth. After that, I'll buy a new display! And so forth and so on... :D

I love that the medals are not lying in a drawer or hanging on a hook ruining the ribbons. The quality is amazing, the shipping was fast and I am super excited to see what it looks like when it's all full! Of course right now I only have medals for 2013 thus far. ;)

What will my next design be? I'm leaning towards My Race Bling. Although I told the hubs I may go with a custom hanger that reads "I Am Running Away." Teehee

I'm also contemplating order a PR medal hanger. I think it would be neat to display the medal that represents my current personal record. If only I had more money than dreams!

Daddy told Baby Girl that if she gets serious about running he will buy her, her very own medal hanger and she chose one that suits our princess perfectly. LOL.

How Do You Do It -- Part 2

 photo Determination_zps7ebd60f0.png

You are superwoman. I'm so proud and amazed at your determination.

I want to be able to do what you are doing, but I just HATE it so much. How did you make yourself just DO IT??

HABIT.

Seriously though. It's been proven time and time again that good healthy habits stick around once you've created such habits.

For me, the road is not always sunshine, flowers and rainbows. I have my moments of self doubt and laziness. We are all prone to it. But because of the healthy habits I instilled in myself, it is ten times easier to return to my healthy habits rather than sticking with the nasty old habits.

The key component in the equation is YOU. You must be the one to push yourself to creating these habits. Start off with something small, say a daily water intake challenge. Then move on to healthy food habits and then daily exercise and so on. There's a myth it takes 21 days to create a good healthy habit. I'd love to think this is true, it is a great starting point, or goal if you will, if you are one accustomed to not sticking to goals. However, it takes a life of commitment to your goals to keep those healthy habits. They do not instinctually hang around after 21 days with no effort on your part.

However, lets say you start with that 21 day goal. And each day you strive to improve a little more and a little more and you gain all this momentum towards living a healthy lifestyle. What do you think the result is going to be? You see improvements in yourself, your nutrition, and your life in general and you are going to want to continue to push forward and see how much more you can improve.

 photo tumblr_m5cnxmrSl41rrjjxto1_500_zps2cb806f8.jpg

I personally began my journey by creating an exercise habit. It sucked, there were days I wanted to give up, but I stuck with it. There were days I skipped, but I stuck with it. Over time the habit became a ritual that I cannot give up. I now cannot go longer than two days without a workout or I feel like I'm going insane. It's a fabulous outlet for stress relief, endorphins will do that you know. What you have to do is think, what do you want long term? Do you want to get healthy and live for your children and significant other? Do you want to feel like nothing in this world is impossible or that there's nothing you can't do? Or do you want to be unhappy and constantly wishing you had what others have? If you want it... make it happen. Don't wish for it, don't wait for it, don't want for it. DO IT!

I being a "tunnel visionary" can only focus on one aspect of this lifestyle at a time. By that I mean I could not go all out with exercise and nutrition from the get go. I was so overwhelmed and distraught that it left me overly discouraged. That's where I found it easier to break down each aspect and focus on one thing until I had that mastered and then move on to the next.

First was fitness, I started with walking, moved up to slow jogging, then to running. After I had that down I started really focusing on my nutrition. I spend more than enough time on the internet researching nutrition basics, facts, myths, to form my own conclusions as to what is going to work for me and my family. Every situation is different and there is no one right way to do things. It's a matter of personal choice, but the bottom line that any form of nutrition has in common...clean eating. It has taken me more than a year to get to where I feel I've found that "happy place" with my nutrition plan. And even though I'm comfortable with it, I'm still seeing things that need adjusted as my body progresses. After feeling I had a solid grip on my nutrition I added in rowing, cycling and finally weight training. It's been a long journey, but it's one that I will say I have no regrets. It's a complete evolution. Things are constantly going to creep up, and you're going to have to make sound decisions and adjust what is necessary to keep the momentum going. The most important thing is to remember, everyone gets discouraged from time to time, even the most elite of athletes. Just remember you are human, when you stumble and fall, pick yourself up, dust yourself off and get going again.

As for my focus on weight training, this pic speaks volumes. I may not be the most ripped person out there, far from it actually, but I seriously feel bad ass when I'm dripping sweat and lifting some heavy weight. It's definitely one of my favorite places to be. You'd be amazed what a little adrenaline, and stinky sweat can do for you. Watch out... it's habit forming.

Yikes! Darn those cupcake cones. :/ So I'm also going to attribute it to the lack of workouts last week as well. Thank you foot!

Before I get to this week's TT, here's a fun pic of baby girl sporting her new FTYF Glow In the Dark Tank. I posted it yesterday and she was reposted to FTYF's Instagram account. As of this post she has over 800 likes!!! LOL.

This weeks Transformation Tuesday!

And this was me after leg day today. No it's not easy to do legs while sporting a boot... but I'll be damned if I didn't do my best. Talk about a sweaty mess! I do have an appointment in the morning and I'm hoping to get to the bottom of the foot pain (no pun intended).

Hey ladies! I'm in the process of updating my blogs look, so forgive me while I mess with it. ;)

Also, I've officially changed my blog name to Bobbi Sharp Fitness with the corresponding URL:

Quinoa Turkey Burger

 photo QuinoaBurger_zps702977ee.jpg

I love a great burger. 🍔 But there are days that a bun isn't in the macro plan. That's when I turn to this yummy guy. I weigh out 4 oz of raw lean ground turkey, add in minced garlic, minced onion and ground chipotle pepper. This makes for an amazingly tasty, spicy burger.

I lay out 4 leaves of Boston lettuce, top two of the leaves with a 1/4c cooked quinoa and put the burger on top of the quinoa. Place the other two leaves on top and viola... Quinoa Turkey Burger!

Happy 4th of July!

 photo IMG_6311_zps23ce0476.jpg
Baby Girl and I made cupcake cones for the party...yes I did indulge. :P

Yes, I know it's after the 4th. Now that things have calmed down some I can update the blog. For those who don't keep up with me on Instagram, I am now benched. :(

 photo IMG_6337_zps672f32cc.jpg

As you know Thursday I ran the 4 on the 4th race. That evening I sat down to relax and when I went to stand I started feeling pain in my right foot. As I tried walking on it, it hurt worse and worse. By Friday afternoon I was in tears trying to walk on it. That evening we had plans to party with our neighbors and celebrate the 4th on the 5th. I assumed my doctors office still had Saturday hours, but I assumed wrong.

 photo IMG_6309_zps76ab4c4c.jpg
Icing it down before the party

Saturday morning we got up and I couldn't bear pressure on my foot and even while sitting it began to throb in pain. So after calling the doctors office, the husband drove me to the ER and dropped me off. I didn't feel like having them stick around because a) we have two small kids b) I knew I wouldn't be a priority c) it was kind of nice to have some "me" time, even if I was in pain.

 photo IMG_6395_zps3d8abc9e.jpg
Showing off my new ER jewelry.

The wait wasn't too bad. But as I sat in the wheelchair my foot hurt so bad that no amount of adjusting could get it to stop. Soon enough they wheeled me back. Ran through the usual gamut of questions and eventually they sent in the lab techs for x-rays.

Essentially the pain is located on the outside of my right foot, just in front of the ankle. Kind of where it curves in. When I stand the pain shoots across the bottom of my foot and up my leg. It totally sucks.

Shortly after the x-rays the doctor comes in and checks it out, having already seen the x-rays, says there's no obvious breaks. He then pinches my foot where he thinks the problem is, and he was too far forward on the foot. So once he pokes and prods my foot some more he leaves to check the x-rays again. He comes back and says it's likely a stress fracture, they can't be seen until they've started healing (2-3 weeks), and/or a combination of pulled ligaments. Either way I have to see my regular doctor in 5-7 days and if it's not improving I'll likely have to see a orthopedic doctor.

 photo IMG_6398_zps67e21123.jpg
No visual sign of swelling.
So he sent me packing with a boot and prescription for pain killers. They wheeled me out to the ER exit to await my husband to pick me up and let's say by then the meds they gave me in the ER had started kicking in and I was all but loopy and slap happy.

 photo IMG_6401_zpsde6b4624.jpg

I most definitely cannot take the meds unless I am ready for bed. For starters I have two small kids and cannot afford to pass out on the floor leaving them unsupervised. LOL. Secondly it makes me loopy as all get out. I did get a good nine hours stretch of sleep last night and after two days off from working out I was jonesin'.

So I hobbled to the garage and had the hubby help pull the erg out. I didn't think pushing to 5000m was a good idea, so I opted for a shorter 2000m. Eleven minutes later I was done but not satisfied. Since I missed back/shoulders Friday I worked on the baby back. When I was nice and sweaty, I was happy.

 photo IMG_6421_zps55dc66b4.jpg

Sure I'm going to have to modify a lot of my workouts for the next few weeks, but I refuse to give in. My healthy habits are seared in my brain and my body just needs that sweat in order to feel good. I love it!
