Recently I was given the opportunity to review products from Vitalicious. The makers of the original 100 calorie snack food that's healthy for you. I had seen these "VitaTops" on several blogs and websites recently and was really curious as to what they were all about. Now I know...
About Vitalicous:
Two years before the country’s largest food manufacturers poured millions into promoting 100-calorie portioned snacks, Aryeh Hecht had already launched the category in 2002 with his 2-ounce, 100-calorie VitaMuffins.
While most of today’s 100-calorie foods are loaded with sugar, artificial ingredients and preservatives, Vitalicious baked goods still remain as eponymously “vital” and “delicious” as they were at the outset of the now thriving category.
Over the years, Vitalicious’ individually-wrapped VitaMuffin™, VitaTops™, VitaBrownies™, VitaCakes™ and VitaMuffin Mix™ have exploded in popularity among dieters and non-dieters alike because they are satisfying and provide excellent daily nutrition. In fact, clinical studies have found foods high in fiber and protein help you feel full longer and eat less.
“Just because a product only has 100 calories doesn’t mean it’s necessarily good for you,” cautions Mr. Hecht. “It’s not just about portion control; it’s about taking care of your daily nutrition needs while satisfying your craving for something delicious.”
Vitalicious fortifies its products with nutraceuticals, vitamins and nutrients your body needs to stay healthy and energetic. Vitalicious also takes pride in producing only all-natural products, without any artificial additives or preservatives of any kind.
Here is the VitaBreakdown of what you get in each individually-wrapped serving:
- 100 calories
- No artificial ingredients
- No preservatives
- Whole grains
- 5g - 6g of fiber
- 0g - 1.5g of fat
- 3g - 4g protein
- 15 vitamins and minerals
Hang in here with me. This is going to be a long review because I have a TON of product to talk about. And a lot of pictures. ;)
Imagine my glee when I heard that I would be receiving some Vitalicous VitaTops to try out for a review. Imagine now me nearly peeing myself when I opened my box to find all of this glorious health food inside just begging to be eaten. Yes, I was that excited!
Below you'll find my first impressions as I tried each flavor, followed by a little information on each product from the Vitalicious website. Whenever I'd try one, I'd log in and just jot down what I thought...
Loaded with chocolate, awesome mint flavor. I want more. Seriously full of awesome flavor. Best part, they are mint flavored so my husband wouldn't steal them. :) -- Chocolate Mint Vitatops -- You no longer need to settle for smaller portions. Our 2 oz. Chocolate Mint Kosher VitaTops with real milk chocolate, chocolate chips, whole wheat & natural peppermint oil. Each muffin top contains 100 calories, 1.5g fat, 9g fiber & 4g protein.
Again I really wasn't sure what to expect. These too were sweet with little bits of cranberries blended in. The cranberries weren't overpowering and it was just right. -- CranBran VitaTops -- You no longer need to settle for smaller portions. Our 2 oz. Try them toasted!
I like pumpkin bread. Pumpkin bread this is not. It has more of a spice flavor to it (hence the name). I really liked the pumpkin seeds on top. -- Pumpkin Spice VitaTops -- You no longer need to settle for smaller portions. Our 2 oz. Pumpkin Spice VitaTops are more filling, nutritious & deliciously satisfying. Get the most out of every calorie. Pumpkin Spice VitaTops are made with real pumpkin, pumpkin spices & candied ginger. All natural cholesterol free Kosher muffin tops contain whole wheat, oat bran and 15 vitamins & minerals. Each muffin top contains 100 calories, 1g fat, 8g fiber & 3g protein.
I culled the website over, and didn't find any pictures that depicted just how big these portions are, so here are pictures of the size of the VitaBrownie and VitaTop in my hand. Quite frankly my hands aren't exactly tiny or girlish...so the product is actually THAT big. Good for us, right?
Now, I am super impressed. Not only with the size and nutrition of these snacks, but the fact that they are also carried by some of my local stores. So now if I need a fix I can run on down to the store and buy me a pick me up.
I started reviewing these products on 4/15. It is now 4/27 and I am still in love. So much so that I have already purchased more vitatops because they are that good. These have become a part of my daily nutrition and I don't think I will ever go back.
