Step Into Summer {Week 3 of 10}

Let's just get down to it, shall we? Last week to recap:

Week 9 Goals
  • Blow the dust off of and walk on the treadmill for at least 30 minutes, twice.
  • [I did get the treadmill "down" and was on it...just not for the 30 minutes, twice as planned. My two-year-old however walked on it for 20 minutes. BUT I have very good reason why I didn't stay inside to walk.]
  • Continue to chug water until my body says no.
  • [Check and Check!]
  • Weather permitting, either take the kids for one walk or a bike ride.
  • [Check and Check! This would be my reason for not being on the treadmill. It's terrible hot here in KC, BUT I wasn't about to let it stop me. For FIVE WHOLE DAYS NOW, we've been out for a walk after dinner. I push both kids in the stroller for 30 minutes to an hour around our neighborhood. Being that it's in the low to mid 90s here, yup you can bet I'm sweating a great deal. That also helps with the water intake.]
  • Nutrition ~ Continue to avoid eating out at unhealthy restaurants. {I'm pretty sure this helped in last week's goal}
  • [I could have done better this week with the whole eating out issue. I managed to squeeze in two outings, which wasn't pretty. On a positive note, they just happened to occur on days where I was too low on calories??? Coincidence or subconscious planning???]

In other fab news I forked out a few bucks for a heart rate monitor/watch-a-ma-jig. :) I wore it as soon as I got it home, all through cleaning, prepping/cooking dinner, and our hour walk. I'm still not too sure what I'm doing, I need to read the directions a little more. It claimed, based on my age/heart rate, that I burned 1,469 calories??? Any one else have a clue? We're talking about a 5 hour time span.

Either way I think it's a nifty way of guesstimating my calories burned and making sure that when I'm walking that I'm able to keep my heart rate up. Which, might I add is difficult when Daddy is pushing the 2-year-old on her bike and she decides that she needs to walk, take her feet off the pedals, essentially stopping Mommy and irritating her because she's not able to keep her heart rate up. Yeah, so from now on it's strollers or nothing when we're going out for that long.

So what's in store for this upcoming week?

Week 10 Goals
  • Keep up with walking as many days as possible, walk for at least an hour.
  • Keep trying to eliminate eating out and unhealthy.
  • Continue avoiding pop.
  • Get one bike ride in, with or without the kids.

I'm somewhat excited for this Wednesday's weigh in. I haven't been on the scale in a few days, so I'm kind of anxious. I'm wondering if all this pushing up hill has got some muscle growth in my legs going? They definitely are feeling the burn. Guess we'll see.
